Members from many churches gathered at Hutton Union Church on a chilly but dry Good Friday morning. The cross was  brought out, and the procession of believers took it in turns to carry it to Shenfield Library. An air of sadness at what we were re-enacting but, as the short service progressed, this was replaced with joy as we sang and Andy, from St Peter’s Church read to us the record of the event in the bible. We remembered that on Sunday, Easter Day will show why Jesus had to go through the agony of crucifixion – His resurrection from the grave wipes away all past sin and allows all who believe in Him to have a fresh start in life.
