Lighthouse Furniture Project Ltd.
Lighthouse Furniture Project is an organisation formed to support the disadvantaged, and reducing the amount of waste sent to landfil, by selling furniture which has been donated and repaired for re-use. Complete house furnishing (often at the request of social services) includes beds, bedroom storage and bedding; sofas, tables and chairs; cookers, washing machines and refrigerators, as well as small electrical goods such as kettles and toasters; kitchen utensils, cutlery and crockery. All electrical products have been repaired and PAT tested by their team of trained staff. Without this support, many families would be sleeping on bare boards.
Christians Against Poverty (CAP)
Anyone needing debt advice should make a personal free call to 0800 328 0006, where they will be directed to help based on their Post Code. Brentwood CAP Debt Centre is run in partnership with Sawyers Church Brentwood. If you are interested in supporting the work of CAP by becoming a befriender, just contact Sawyers Church Brentwood.
We are on a mission to release thousands of families from grinding poverty through award winning debt counselling and community groups. By equipping and empowering local churches to reach out on their doorsteps, we’re bringing hope to over 21,500 families every year.
Manna Meals
Manna Meals is a Christian charity that exists to support anyone in need through food, friendliness and love for our neighbours. We are here to support any organisation or individual in any way we can. We are preparing free ‘Emergency Care Bags’ for distribution to anyone in Brentwood and the surrounding areas. These will include groceries such as pasta, chopped tomatoes, soup, soap, biscuits, toilet roll, tinned pulses and tuna.
Brentwood Foodbank
Even in our fairly wealthy area, there are many families who just do not have enough money to live on, and the Foodbank organisation plays a key role in keeping them fed. Hope Community Church actively supports and partners with Brentwood Foodbank, and many donations go to the central distribution points. Support comes from many other churches throughout the borough.
Brentwood Schools Christian Worker Trust
The aim of Brentwood Schools Christian Worker Trust (BSCWT) is to serve school communities in Brentwood by providing Christian learning and support through our team of staff and volunteers. BSCWT organises assemblies, provides aid in RE and PSHE teaching, runs clubs and special projects such as Christmas and Easter events, as well as preparation courses for classes about to move to secondary school. Hope Community Church supports the trust financially.
Tearfund

WE’RE CHRISTIANS PASSIONATE ABOUT ENDING POVERTY.
We’re following Jesus where the need is greatest, working with local churches to unlock people’s potential and helping them to discover that the answer to poverty is within themselves. When disasters strike, we respond quickly. We won’t stop until poverty stops.
